Clearing Things Up
A few things have happened since my last post. For one, we ended up altering our idea for the project. We decided that instead of making it psychological horror, we should change it to drama/sci-fi. Now, I know this sounds really different, but it will still be set in the same location: the therapist's office. Instead of a crazy person talking about how their mind works, we decided it could be more interesting to make the person stuck in a time loop. I just wanted to get that out of the way before I get into this week's postings.
The Schedule
Since this project is so big, it needs to be structured and have a schedule so we can hit deadlines at a maintainable rate. If we did not set deadlines, we would be extremely more prone to procrastination which would lead to the overall quality of the project being much worse off in the end. Last class, we decided on a set schedule, that explains what we need to do each week for the remainder of the project. Here it is below.
Week 1 (1/29 - 2/2)
- Introduction to the project
- Begin brainstorming
- Research our genre / decide the genre
Week 2 (2/3 - 2/9)
- Continue with our research
- Figure out the plot, finish up brainstorming
- Start the storyboard
Week 3 (2/10 - 2/16)
- Finish the storyboard
- Write the script
- Find / Research film locations
- Soundboard layout
Week 4 (2/17 - 2/23)
- Confirm the filming location
- Buy/Obtain props
- Customize shooting layout
- Final tweaks to the script
Week 5 (2/24 - 3/2)
- Main filming
- Record sound effects/Foley
- Review footage and decide if we need reshoots
Week 6 (3/3 - 3/9)
- Begin editing
- Reshoot if need be
Week 7 (3/10 - 3/16)
- Research for CCR
- Finish up editing
- Last revisions to the project
- Create and finish reflections
Week 8 (3/17 - 3/25)
- Discuss reflections
- Revise reflections / add information if needed
- Use the rest of the week to finish up and review everything in case of delay
This is what we came up with, and (if everything goes according to plan) it will allow us to complete the project efficiently. With this group, I am confident we will be able to since we all work very well together. I'm looking forward to seeing how this turns out!
